Welcome....................................

There is always a view from the path of our life that we follow, at every turn and at any place. Sometimes the panorama is spectacular, positive and uplifting; at other times the view is misty, cloudy and uncertain, or even dark and disturbing. As someone who loves to walk in a place such as the Lake District, shown in my photo above, with its many breathtaking views and paths; this brings to mind not only the choices and pathways found in life, but also those found on the therapeutic journey and the many views from it and within it!
You may find yourself here reading this for a number of reasons:
- It could be that life and its challenges are overwhelming at this moment; and you need the space and time to work this through.
- Or maybe you find yourself here as your personal and professional choices require you to begin a journey of development and increasing self knowledge.
This may be a professional requirement or a response to the call of an inner voice urging you to follow a deeper path or to change direction completely.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist.
I have a Core training in Jungian and psychodynamic psychotherapy and a currrent interest and focus on Energy Psychology. I can help you to return your life to a state of balance; give you space and insight into where you are; and provide you with a safe space to examine and experience what could be difficult and challenging material.
In simple terms the former involves working with the psyche through conversation and the latter with the energies of the body using both conversation and an attunement and application to the energy meridians of the body. At first glance these approaches may appear to be mutually exclusive, but therapists like myself following innovators such as Phil Mollon seek out an integrated practice where both can be used for the benefit of you the client.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist.
My work is rooted in the Jungian and the psychodynamic; and is built on a dialogue based on the developing relationship and partnership between myself and my client. It also has elements of both Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy developed by John Kabat Zinn; and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy developed by Aaron Beck. Both of these in different ways make us aware of the connections between thoughts and feelings, their relationship and the potential for change.
My energy psychology is defined by Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy and contains elements of TFT, EFT and similar techniques such as those devised by Tapas Fleming known as TAT. All of these approaches involve some recognition of the connection between the energies held and felt in the body and the emotions and thought experienced as mind. This energy work is focussed on the relationship and balance between mind and body. Aspects of this dialogue can also be focussed on an awareness and use of the tones of the voice, pure sound and the channeling and focusing of energies.
There are many reasons for seeking therapy and beginning a psychotherapeutic journey. Entering into psychotherapy will bring both myself as the therapist and you the client into a close focus as we work together on the material that you bring to our sessions.
Listed here are some possible areas of focus/concern that you may wish to bring to a a therapeutic dialogue:
- bereavement and loss
- anxiety and depression
- managing career change
- loss of energy
- problems with relationships and identity
- recovery from illness
- mid life crisis
- personal review and change
- professional development and growth
......and many other circumstances and situations.
I work in dedicated premises used solely for psychotherapy and counselling. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and ideal for the purpose. Situated to the east of the centre of Bedford they are easily accessible to those living in Northampton, Luton and Milton Keynes. A Google Maplink is provided on my contacts page.
Please feel free to contact me for an initial appointment if you feel my way of working offers you the opportunity to reach the resolution that you need.
I look forward to hearing from you. |

For psyche and body are not separate entities but are one and the same life.

When we work with the psyche and the body's energy system concurrently, there is a powerful therapeutic synergy that is not present when working with the psyche alone or with the body alone.
