There is a view from the path at every turn. Sometimes the panorama is spectacular, positive and uplifting; at other times the view is misty, cloudy and uncertain. The photograph below, taken on a walk in the Lake District near Grasmere, is one of my favourite places and seems to reflect the therapeutic journey and the views from it and within it.

Psychotherapy and healing can help you on your journey following your inner path; both exist as practices with their own professional standards, ethos and culture. In reality the former is working with the psyche and the latter with the energies of the body. At first glance they may appear to be mutually exclusive, but there is an emerging trend for some consideration of a holistic approach that could include both.

The September 2007 edition of Therapy Today, the monthly journal of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, features an article by Phil Mollon from which the following quote is offered :

"When we work with the psyche and the body's energy system concurrently, there is a powerful therapeutic synergy that is not present when working with the psyche alone or with the body alone"

My psychotherapy is Jungian and psychodynamic and is built on a dialogue and the developing relationship and partnership between myself and my client. It also has elements of both Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy developed by John Kabat Zinn; and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy developed by Aaron Beck. Both of these in different ways make you aware of the connections between thoughts and feelings, their relationship and the potential for change.

My healing is focussed on the relationship and balance between mind and body. It is built on a dialogue which is focussed on the tones of the voice, pure sound and the channeling and focusing of energies.

There are many reasons for seeking therapy and beginning a psychotherapeutic journey. Entering into psychotherapy will bring both the therapist and the client into a close focus upon the inner world of the client.

Some possible reasons for a therapeutic dialogue may include:

  • bereavement and loss

  • anxiety and depression

  • managing career change

  • loss of energy

  • problems with relationships and identity

  • recovery from illness

  • mid life crisis

  • personal review and change

  • professional development and growth

  • .......and many other circumstances and situations.

  • I work in dedicated premises used solely for psychotherapy and counselling. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and ideal for the purpose.

Situated to the east of the centre of Bedford they are easily accessible to those living in Northampton, Luton and Milton Keynes.
